Turn your office desktops into a compute farm

The DySI OfficeGrid software is the software tool allowing users to easily control the operational usage of distributed and parallel computations on a cluster computer or local network "GRID". The user defines the workflow of a run, or a collection of runs, using the graphical interface and pre-defined configuration templates. The result of this process is a completely configured definition of the run, including all parameters required by the application, target specific settings, directory structure information and schedule requirements. An internal scheduler calculates the optimal execution ordering which is actively carried out via a so-called BlackBoard based control mechanism. This implements task based control and synchronisation for both pre-defined tasks and dynamically defined tasks. The OfficeGrid software manages the operational usage of high performance applications while monitoring its progress and collecting meta-data.

BlackBoard plug-in
OfficeGrid manages workflows on the level of executable tasks. With the optional BlackBoard plug-in the workflow management is extended to workflow management within the application tasks in a very similar way to the gross process-level management. The BlackBoard plug-in provedes an Application Programming Interface to be used to define inter and intra process workflows, for example between threads. The BlackBoard plug-in integrates with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) middleware or use shared memory or IP communication instead.
