Eugène de Geus, DySI general director
Eugène holds a PhD in astronomy from Leiden University in the Netherlands. He worked as a researcher in the USA for seven years and as a commercial publisher in the Netherlands for four years, before becoming deputy director at the ASTRON scientific institute in 1999. He became the director of the LOFAR project, responsible a.o. for acquiring the funds necessary for its development and construction.
Eugène's responsibility is development of new projects and their conceptual design.
Kjeld van der Schaaf, DySI technical director
Kjeld is a graduate of Groningen University in the Netherlands. He obtained his master's degree in experimental physics from the KVI (the Groningen nuclear accelerator research facility). Kjeld was head of the software group at the ASTRON scientific institute. As systems architect he was responsible for the design and development of the LOFAR system. Kjeld's expertise includes systems architecture, design of experiment, data management, data analysis, and software acceleration.
